Description: The male and female dolls are made by The Cherokees Qualla Reservation, Cherokee NC. The female has some wearing of the painted moccasins. Her eyes work, move. 8 inches tall. The male is some damage to his neck which feels like a plaster mateial with straw inside. The legs look like wood pegs, not sure about rest of doll. 10 inches tall. The papoose Has Schoenbrunn Memorial State Park, New Philidelphia, Ohio on the tag. The tag says the novelty can be mailed anywhere without wrapping or folding. Packaging 1 1/2 cents. There is handwriting on here with the date of Sept 23, 1937 which would make this papoose at least 1937. On other side has Before this message reaches you, From here I must vamoose. A million wishes for good luck, I send with this papoose. Good condition, has a spot on his cheek paint wearing off. About 4 1/2 inches long. Pretty cool piece of history, especially when you start reading about The Cherokees Qualla Reservation, and also the history of Schoenbrunn Memorial State Park. I am thinking the male and female dolls may be from the 30's but not sure.
