Description: This is an old Erie Tool Works No. 104 Bench Vise with 4” wide jaws and weighing approximately 35 lbs. The vise is about 15-3/4” in length while fully closed. Erie tool works was based out of Erie, PA and made many solid vises before eventually selling to Reed Mfg which is arguably the best bench vise maker to this date. This vise has been stripped, cleaned and oiled to expose the craftsmanship under the layers of paint and rust. It has no cracks or breaks in the casting and is in good shape for its age, other than the common dings and dents from years of light use it looks great. The spindle collar and set screw was replaced to tighten up the action of the vise. This vise has been shelved in a dehumidified room so it will need to be greased/oiled before it’s put back into service. It would be excellent for any workbench or shop, as well as a great conversation piece. These old solid vises are becoming harder to find as they are sorted out from the scrap ones. Just like most tools, vises are not made with anywhere near the quality they once were, so more old vises are being sought out as opposed to buying the new “throwaway” vises that occupy most hardware store shelves these days. Thank you for viewing and don’t hesitate to message me with any questions regarding the vise. Will ship to the lower 48 and Canada.
