Description: Antique Chinese Export Porcelain Plate Butterfly Pattern, Qing mid 19th Century Chinese porcelain Plate, beautifully hand decorated and made for the Chinese Export (Canton) market. 1000 Butterfly plates, circa 1870. Butterflies symbolize the warmth of summer and the search for love. The circular plate is well potted on a fairly high foot rim with a white glaze having a slight tinge of blue/green. It is very well hand-painted in the Famille-Verte palette of enamels using green, blue, yellow, orange, and black enamels, all in varying shades. and carefully high- lighted with gilded detail. The pattern has butterflies throughout together with beetles and other insects both in the central well and as a four section continuous border pattern to the rim. There are no markings to the base. This plate is 8.5" in diameter and is in wonderful condition. No chips or cracks. I have another 1000 butterflies plate for sale. It has a different pattern but is uniquely beautiful. Let me know if interested in purchasing a pair. In addition, I have 10" plates for sales that are listed as well.
