Description: Adorable Vintage Hand Woven MID-CENTURY MODERN Wicker & Wood Baby Bird BOX Click images to enlarge Description ANTIQUE VICTORIAN BAMBOO MAGAZINE RACK Wonderful antique Aesthetic Victorian Chinoiserie magazine stand measuring 29" tall with an additional 2" in handle height -- it is 16" in length and 10-1/2" wide at the top - the base, due to the splayed legs is 19" in length and 13-1/4" wide. English in origin, it is constructed of "tortoise" bamboo, fitted together with dowel and tiny nail construction -- rack shelf is covered in a complimentary material - I believe it is grass cloth made from woven bamboo - rack edges are trimmed in fine bamboo accent strips. Bearing a Canterbury style with criss-cross bamboo rails dividing the two sections, exterior edges are decorated in vertical bamboo columns with additional bracing underneath on both ends for stability. Five of the six bamboo ends are cap finished with decorative, metal disks with a stamped design - these are old and dark. Condition is very nice -- all pieces are securely seated into place - there was a long, tight crack on the top horizonal middle rail from which the handle is joined -- this reflects an old glue repair - stable and difficult to see. There is a tiny bit of bamboo loss on the inner vertical rail where it joins the middle rail as shown. Minor rubbing and light scuffing to the bamboo finish from age and use, with typical irregularities to the natural bamboo. Handle has a hint of play due the design and how it is attached - I would not carry the rack via the handle to be safe - but it is very secure and I could not budge it from the fittings.
