Description: This auction is for a fabulous Antique Powder Horn. I just got this from a client, who is in the process of downsizing her fine estate in Cambridge, Mass. I am selling this "As Is" and "As Found." The powder horn was given to my client's uncle (a lawyer) in rural NH in exchange for his services as a lawyer. Apparently the woman had no money to pay him, so she gave him this powder horn instead, saying it was a family heirloom. My client's uncle then showed this powder horn to several folks in the Boston area who confirmed its authenticity. For example, he brought it to Antiques Roadshow around 2000 through a family connection at WGBH Boston, and they said it was authentic. The horn was eventually given to my client and she's just stored it for years. My client is ready to sell it so we are putting it on eBay without knowing much more about it. Perhaps you can look at the photos and share your thoughts? As far as I can tell, the carving says: CaTCH THaT TORYJENTLEMAN 1775CaTH He THaTCaTCh Ca MarRCH XIX"THe The is a random "H" carved near the wide end. There are also images of ships, etc. It is about 12 1/4" from end to end. Again, I am just selling this "As Is" and "As Found."
