Xavier, however, is also able to intervene, and in his attempt to prevent Legion's attack on Magneto, he wipes out the entire timeline, removing his son and most of the X-Men from reality. Aside from Magneto, only BISHOP, from the future, is able to still exist outside of the X-Men's original timeline. But there's also APOCALYPSE, who observes Xavier's terrible mistake. With the X-Men no longer around to stop him, he decides to initiate his long-held plan of world domination. And as Magneto follows now a more noble path, Apocalypse's plan unfolds and the world falls into disarray and chaos, a time known as the AGE OF APOCALYPSE.
