The doors are made of solid Douglas fir or pine, and are stained on both sides. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine Each door has an impressive arrangement of 15, true-divided windows with old glass. All of glass lites have contact paper on them which gives them semi-privacy. If you don't like the contact paper, you can remove it. Hardware: Each door comes equipped with 2 brass pulls. If you'd like to replace, or add more hardware to the door, we have a good selection of period hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store). * If you would like any of the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Condition: The door is strong, sturdy, and in excellent condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no breaks, cracks, gouges, rot, warp, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks". All of the glass is intact and also in great condition with only subtle scratches. Modification: We could also modify the doors to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace glass with panels etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote.
