Description: Back in 1962 Fender introduced a new model and called it Jaguar! It was meant to be the top-of-the-range guitar alongside it's brother Jazzmaster. Both guitars were very much ahead of their times and so many players back then preferred Strats and Teles. It took around 20 years for these offsets to start gaining notoriety amongst the alt rock and indie guitarists and in 2024 they are most definitely in vogue. Fender Japan has been very successfully producing vintage-accurate Jaguars since the 1980s. The vast majority of them would sport a classic 3-tone sunburst, or Candy Apple Red or Olympic White. Burgundy Mist metallic finish is considered to be one of the rarest custom colours - and it really comes alive under electric lights. The Jaguar for sale is a glorious example of the revered Fender Japan craftsmanship. Made on the cusp of the new millennia, this guitar comes in fantastic condition despite it's age, with only one noticeable ding near the bottom strap pin and tiny mark on the front of the headstock. Everything except the upgraded Mustang style bridge is original, no parts have been changed. Fast and easy to play C-shape maple neck has a beautiful honey amber gloss finish on the back and the essential painted headstock. Jaguars as well as Mustangs come with a 24'' scale length as opposed to 25.5'' on a Jazzmasters, Strats and Teles, so all those weird chord voicings that you like so much are suddenly a bit easier to reach. Dark rosewood fretboard looks stunning and the vintage-correct 7.25-inch radius makes bar chording a breeze. Original Kluson vintage slotted tuners work well and the nut is nicely cut. Resonant alder body has those vintage-correct deep contours that hug you when you play. Internal cavities have been factory-shielded with conductive paint and grounded, helping to curb any noise and interference. Original pickups have a broad sonic palette, with plenty of variation depending on the settings. Neck pickup provides lovely warmth for those rhythm lines, while bright and twangy yet powerful bridge pickup is perfect for lead and arpeggios. Rhythm circuit located on the upper control plate allows to darken the neck pickup even further. Separate rhythm and lead circuits on Jags and Jazzmasters were originally designed to be pre-set to the desired volume and tone settings so a player can just toggle between them using the 2-way slider switch. One cool feature of the Jaguar is the so-called "strangle" switch, located next to pickup selectors. This allows to remove a lot of bass from the output, which is particularly useful for all those fuzz and Big Muff aficionados. All wiring on this Jaguar is original and works smoothly after some thorough cleaning. Original Jaguar bridges were meant for much thicker strings and much mellower jazz players. So in the best tradition of alt rock mods, a Mustang bridge was installed to improve the string stability and overall sustain. Original threaded saddle bridge will be included with the guitar. This instrument received a full professional setup with deep body cleaning, body polish, neck deep clean, rosewood fretboard lemon oil treatment, full electronics check, truss-rod and action and intonation adjustment. Restringed with D'addario 10-46 Nickel-plated steel strings. Please note that although we put our heart and soul and also all our knowledge into every single guitar we sell, a setup is a personal preference. However, we try to get the best playability out of every guitar and set them up so you can play both rhythm and lead. We also pull them all apart to clean and check every single component and replace all unreliable parts with new ones, from dodgy pots to the whole wiring, tuners, string trees, nuts and etc. All the work done is described in detail in the listing. We make sure that every guitar we sell is problem free and take full responsibility for the accuracy of our listing descriptions. All photographs are done by a professional photographer and processed on a calibrated monitor. Some colours might look slightly different on your monitor, but we will always put the official Fender colour name in the listing description, so please study pictures of other guitars with the same colour if you are unsure. We focus on finding great quality guitars and making them reliable and inspiring to play.
