Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. MacDonald and Representative Lindy Boggs. Some very special people congregate to celebrate the 175th anniversary of the Louisiana Purchase. In 1803, when the Stars and Strip were raised in Jackson Square, the the Place d'Armes, Orleanian partied. And they partied again 1903 on the occasion of the centennial of the Louisiana Purchase. But neither celebration could hold a candle to the bash held at 1850 House, in the square and later in the Cabildo to mark the 175th anniversary of the most important real estate transaction in U.S. history. And this party was also one with a purpose — the money paid into the Louisiana Purchase Gala fund will benefit the properties of the Louisiana State Museum. Co-sponsored by the museum board and the Friends of the Cabildo, the gala was — as they say — "a crush." And that's the vernacular for success. Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
