Description: For sale is a very scarce 1966 $100 Red Seal U.S. Note. The Red Seal Notes are called "United States Notes" because they are currency that was actually issued by the United States and not the Federal Reserve, which is technically a separate entity. So any Red Seal Note was actually issued from the U.S. fiscal budget and not on loan from the Federal Reserve. Red Seal Notes are always fairly scarce because the Treasury would destroy these notes as they made they way back. But this specific 1966 $100 Note is very rare because they printed only 768,000 of them, which is tiny when it comes to printing money. And of those 768,000 the Treasury reports that just about NONE were released into circulation--they just sat at the Treasury. Then they destroyed all the Notes in 1996. So just a tiny number survived, including this one!As you can see from the pics the note is in really nice shape, and it would be considered average circulated. It is nice and crisp and the white, green, and red colors are vibrant. The note does have folds and a couple tinted areas to it, but it has no rips or tears.This is a really nice rarity that would be at the top shelf of any currency collection. Thanks!
