Dedication of a Marker at the "Peace Tree" in Chalmette Cemetery was conducted Saturday afternoon. Among participants were (from lefts Lyle K. Linch. superintendent of Chalmette National Park; Mrs. Cora Mae Parham Jr.. regent of Vieux Carre Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. and Mrs. Camilla May Frank, national defense chairman of the Vieux Carre Chapter of the DAR. Mrs. Parham unveiled and presented the marker. Superintendent Linch accepted it, and Mrs. Frank led the Pledge of Allegiance. The "Peace Tree." a sycamore. was planted in 1927, at Chalmette. in accordance with a 1922 resolution by the Survivors of the Battle of Shiloh, National Association. that a tree be planted at the gate of each of 81 national cemeteries.
