It helps retain the armrest panel in place, in addition to provided light. I have only 4 of these available. SOLD INDIVIDUALLY. These are all very clean original units. I grade them at "B" Range, which means Pretty Good condition, but not Excellent. The shine on them is fairly strong for being well over 50 years old. Each of these will have common scattered/random surface pitting in the chrome, and that's why I grade them at "B". Each are numbered, so if you have a preference for a particular one then send that item # in the payment "Note to Seller" or email it to me immediately after paying (See the 4 consecutive pictures at the end of the photo section, the # is written on the side).
