Description: This is a 1955 Thanksgiving menu for the US Navy Ship USS Colonial (LSD-18). The Casa-Grande class dock landing ship was launched in 1945 and named for the Colonial Historical Park, which includes Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown in Virginia. In early 1955, she was involved in the evacuation of the Dachen or Tachen Islands in the East China Sea. They had been claimed by the Republic of China(Taiwan), but were taken over by the People's Republic soon after the evacuation. I'm not sure where the ship was on Thanksgiving. The ship was decommissioned in 1970. Folded the menu is 4 1/4 by 5 5/8 inches. It has a horizontal crease and light soiling and fading.
