BIG 'COPTER CROP -- A graphic indication of the growth of nation's helicopter industry in the past two years is illustrated here by these three dozen Bell H-13E helicopters lined up at Fort Worth, Texas, just prior to delivery to the U. S. Army. This is the largest number of helicopters ever assembled in a completed pre-delivery stage and all are ticketed for shipment to Korea and Europe. It is also the first time the Army will use Bell helicopters in Europe. Since the helicopter proved its utility and versatility in Korea, demand for these craft has been unprecedented. Bell Aircraft Corporation, for instance, one of the country's three largest 'copter manufacturers, is producing almost as many helicopters now in a single month as it did in an entire year before Korea. And Bell had to construct a $7,500,000 exclusively helicopter facility in Fort Worth to meet its rotary wing requirements. Helicopters of the type pictured here, and used by the Army and Marines, have evacuated more than two-thirds of the 14,000 wounded United Nations troops rescued in Korea, as well as performing a number of other combat assignments. Photo measures 10 x 8.25 inches. Photo is dated 08-03-1952. PHOTO FRONT PHOTO BACK Historic Images Part Number: not06123 Sell Smarter with Kyozou.Inventory and Ecommerce Management
