Description: A VERY EARLY PRINTING OF THIS ICONIC BOOK OF ESSAYS BY PHILIP WYLIE. This is the 16th Large Printing edition; the first printing was published by Rinehart and Company in 1942. There is no date of publication indicated in this copy on the title or copyright pages. In the summary below, it is noted that this book had 20 printings by 1955, at which time a new edition of the book came out. So this was likely printed between 1950 and 1955. This copy is in VERY GOOD CONDITION. The dust jacket has light edge wear, small chips and tears, now handsomely preserved in a mylar jacket. The boards have light edge and corner wear, except for the top edge of the back board and the top of the spines - both areas show a bit of shredding like cat scratches (see listing photo). 318 clean and solidly bound pages, no interior marks.
