Description: 1920's Vintage and Rare Hand Blown Glass Joan of Arc Head with Glass Eyes Christmas Ornament 3". Made in Germany. Found this going through my maternal grandparents' Christmas items, who were both of German descent and still had relatives in Germany. As a child I remember a large tree with many ornaments and a village underneath. I've seen information and a few others listed as 1920s and 1930s, not sure when production started. In 1920 Pope Benedict XV canonized Joan of Arc as a Saint of the Roman Catholic Church which would lead some credence to this being from the 1920s. I understand the ornament is listed in John I Lightner's Christmas Rarities, 2007, on page 199 #12004, although I do not have this book nor have seen the listing. Approx 3 1/4" x 2 1/4". Glass eyes are in very good shape. Red lips. Flesh color face in good shape except for one area on left check. Red cap faded and showing age/wear in many areas. No chips or cracks. Would consider this to be in Good vintage condition for its approx 100 year age. PLEASE review photos to make your determination of condition and let me know if any questions.
