'The Marvellous History of The Shadowless Man', in the original German 'Peter Schlemihls wundersame Geschichte'. In this story the protagonist Peter Schlemihl sells his shadow to the Devil. The second story featured in this work is 'The Cold Heart' or 'Das kalte Herz', in which the lead Peter Marmot is granted three wishes. Illustrated with With 17 plates to 'The Shadowless Man' and 13 plates to 'The Cold Heart'. Collated complete. With an introduction by Dr. A. S. Rappoport. CONDITION In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally generally smart. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine, with very small tears to the cloth. Patches of rubbing to the front and rear joints, and also to the extremities. Heavy offsetting to the front and rear endpapers. Internally firmly bound. Pages are generally clean, with light offsetting to the tissue guards.
