Description: This is the 1905 Ty Cobb card from the Klector series; these cards were created by New York City cab driver Bernard Kleckner who gave the cards to customers to encourage repeat business. The cards, which were colorized from black and white photographs were limited to a print run of only 400 by Solomon Printing. The cards were created during his tenure as a cab driver and are consequently known as "cab cards". The cards that reflect his Taxi Medallion (2M25) were made from 1981 through 1994 with the 1905 Cobb card of his Rookie season being the first of the series. With their rustic, raw appearance, type written backing, limited production and unique heritage, these thick, glossy cards create a distinctive and unconventional collectible.
