Description: A lovely and well-preserved copy of a hard to find book by Caroline Ticknor. One of her earlier works, this book was copywrited in 1897 and reprinted with this edition in 1898. Illustrated; 6 full paged ones and also smaller illustrations above each chapter header. It features a green hardcover binding with gilded gold-colored lettering and design. The outside of the pages are also gold colored on the top; the side and bottom may have also once been colored this way too but no traces remain if they were. Some age wear on the covers but nothing major; Discoloration and nicks here and there. No missing, torn, or loose pages and binding is still tight. Front protective covering for the first illustration has some sort of discoloration on it that lightly marked the top parts of the the surrounding pages. Only other markings we could find were some figures written in pencil on the inside of the front and back covers, and it also looks as though something was written on the first page at one time but then erased.
