Description: 🌹This 1860's Victorian necklace features 488 undyed salmon-colored coral beads, including a bead clasp, set in 10k yellow gold. The necklace is approximately 77 inches long, making it a versatile piece suitable for any occasion. Handmade and featuring a push lock closure, this vintage necklace showcases the natural beauty of coral in a beaded style, reflecting the luxury and elegance of the Victorian era. 🌹THIS NECKLACE HAS BEEN IN MY FAMILY FOR A REALLY LONG TIME-IT WAS GIVEN TO MY GREAT GRANDMOTHER BY MY GREAT-GRANDFATHER, NOT LONG AFTER THE CIVIL WAR, (DOES THAT ACTUALLY MAKE IT VICTORIAN? NO OPTIONS HERE REALLY-THEY WERE ALREADY IN THIS COUNTRY I KNOW) AS THE FAMILY LORE GOES; I HAVE INCLUDEED A PIC OF THEM AT THE END OF THE AD. IT WAS THEN HANDED DOWN TO MY GRANDMOTHER, THAT I REMEMBER SOMEWHAT; SHE DIED WHEN I WAS YOUNG, AND I DO REMEMBER HER WEARING IT OCCASIONALLY. THEN HANDED DOWN TO MY MOTHER, WHOM I NEVER SAW WEAR IT-THEN TO ME AS I WAS THE ONLY ONE INTERESTED IN IT, THOUGH I HAVE NEVER WORN IT EITHER! I JUST THOUGHT IT WAS COOL...NOW I AM CLEARING OUT MOST OF MY ANGEL SKIN AND CORAL JEWELRY- EVEN THOUGH I WAS AN AVID COLLECTOR FOR A FEW YEARS- I JUST NEVER WEAR ANY OF IT...AND NO ONE TO LEAVE IT TO. IT IS AN AMAZING 77' LONG, WITH HAND CARVED ROUND (ALL SLIGHTLY DIFFERNT DUE TO HAND CARVING) 488 BEADS, INCLUDING THE LARGER PUSH-LOCK BEAD CLOSURE. IT WEIGHS 65 GRAMS, (SCALE SAYS 64.9 BUT I COULDN'T QUITE GET IT ALL TO STAY ON THE SCALE, SO-). IT HAS ONE TINY FRAY BETWEEN BEADS-I TRIED TO SHOW IT IN THE PICS, AND IF ALLOWED TO HANG DOWN FROM THE CLASP, THERE IS ABOUT 3/8" OF THREAD SHOWING ON ONE SIDE AT THE CLASP-I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TAUGHT TO NEVER HANG PEARLS, AS THAT CAN CAUSE THE STRING TO STRETCH-I IMAGINE THAT IS WHAT HAS HGAPPENED HERE; IT IS NOT KNOTTED BETWEEN ANY OF THE BEADS. FOR ALL I KNOW IT COULD BE FAR OLDER-IT MAY HAVE COME FROM ITALY AND BEEN HANDED DOWN IN MY GREAT GRANDFATHERS' FAMILY-THEY WERE IRISH MERCHANTS WHO IMMIGRATED TO SCOTLAND AND WERE QUITE SUCCESSFUL AND PROSPEROUS-MY GRANDMOTHER HAD A FAIR AMOUNT OF JEWELRY SHE NEVER WORE, WE WERE ALLOWED TO PLAY WITH SOME OF IT AND WEAR IT AS KIDS-SO MOST IS LONG GONE-SOME OF IT I WISH I STILL HAD! SHE WAS REALLY TINY AND WAS UNDER 5' TALL AND WORE A SIZE 2.5 SHOE-SHE HAD TO HAVE EVERYTHING CUSTOM MADE, AND WAS VERY FASHIONABLE IN ALL THE OLD PICS I SAW OF HER. SINCE I REALLY HAVE NO IDEA OF THE VALUATION OF THIS PIECE, I AM STARTING AT A LOW $399.99- REASONABLE OFFERS CONSIDERED-PLEASE ASK ALL QUESTIONS OR REQUEST MORE PICS IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE YOU SPECIFICALLY WANT TO SEE. *ALSO-I AM GUESSING AT THE 10K GOLD, I JUST GOT A KIT I WILL USE TO TEST IT ASAP. ❤️FREE SHIPPING; BUT I MIGHT SUGGEST WE DO A SIGNATURE REQUIRED, OR BUYER ADDS INSURANCE- ~~~~~~~~~~~THANK YOU~~~~~~~ NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING PLEASE!
