Description: Attention Collectors!!! You are bidding on a very rare set of antiquarian hardcover books titled Lectures on The Philosophy of The Human Mind. By Thomas Brown, M. D. Published in Philadelphia by John Grigg, 1824. The set is complete in three volumes and you are bidding on all three volumes. It is an all-matching set. This is a very scarce set from 1824 with lovely rare leather bindings! The books feature attractive tree calf bindings. (Tree Calf binding a highly polished calf binding that originated in the late 1700's in which the leather has been stained to produce a dark tree-like pattern along the front and rear boards). The books feature full leather binding. The spines have titling is in gold on black leather labels. The spines also have intricate gilt designs. The outside edge of covers also has gold design. The covers are firmly attached with no cracking of splitting of hinges. The leather bindings shows some general wear/scuffing but are in overall very good condition. All pages are tightly bound. The pages show foxing and offset, some heavy, however, text is still very readable. There is an old previous owner bookplate on inside of front covers. The books once belonged to R. Correll of Greensborough, North Carolina. Books show some general wear and remain in overall very good condition. This is a very scarce set!!! Would make a super addition to a collection.
