The numbering of volumes, books, etc. of these is very confusing. These four volumes are the complete set of The Reign of the Emperor Charles V. They are a subset of The Works of William Robertson, his life and writings. These were published in several editions. This is the 1817 edition, published in London. There are 12 volumes in the entire set but subsets include The History of the Reign of Emperor Charles V; The History of America; The History of Scotland; An Historical Disquisition concerning The Knowledge which the Ancients had of India. These are the four volumes comprising the Emporer Charles only. They are Volumes IV, V, VI and VII from the 12 volume set. In addition they are also volumes 1-4 of the Charles subset and then there are different Book numbers, with several "books" within each volume (confused yet?). They are completely leatherbound. 300's-400's pages each. They are generally FAIR-GOOD condition but one has a partially loose spine cover and the last volume is missing the spine cover alltogether. Pages are tight on all four, minor foxing. Nice bookplate. I use a poor/fair/good/very good/excellent/mint grading system and grade very conservatively (see my feedback).
