18” VINTAGE 1930-40’S COMPOSITION DOLL IN HANDMADE ICE SKATERS DRESS & BOOTS

Description: Offered here is a charming old 18” doll – she is made of composition with some crazing, particularly of lower extremities. There is no chipping or cracking, no missing composition or paint loss. Her head is made with sleep eyes – the eyes are light blue green with attached upper lashes and painted lower lashes. The eyebrows are painted single stroke – very thin as was the style of the time and her open mouth is “waitress red” with upper teeth and tongue visible. The cheeks are lightly blushed and she has strawberry blonde mohair wig with curly bangs and braids that extend over the shoulders to the front. There is some loss of hair in the back from storing on her back (old dolls should always be stored face down so that the rocker arms with the eyes do not roll down in the head.). The doll is not marked as to the maker or place of origin – but I think she was a quality doll that needs just a bit of restoration to bring her back to original beauty. She is dressed in white fleecy Ice skaters dress trimmed with felt red skate applique and red bias tape around the hem. The “buttons” are small pleated metal disks held in place by red glass beads. Her panties are cotton, socks ae ribbed nylon and the boots are lace-up without skate blades.
