Description: I need to clear some space on my shelves, so I have to part with some of my collection. THIS IS MY LAST ONE! Tamiya has released several kits of the famed USS Missouri in 1/350 scale. The first was TAM #78008 back in 1985, which was updated to the Gulf War configuration in 2012 as TAM #78029. As good as these kits are, aftermarket teams diligently created sets to allow for super-detailing and hyper accuracy. Pontos put together this massive Detail Up set with enough parts to practically cover the BB-63 from bow to stern in the finest Teak Tone wood deck, photo etched metal, resin and turned brass. Pontos Models (Hobbyway, Inc.) is a world-class supplier of precision wood decks and state-of-the-art photo etched and turned metal parts from Korea. They have even partnered with other companies to provide some of the most comprehensive upgrade sets on the planet. If you have the base kit and the skills, this set will get you close to a museum-quality showpiece. This set will get your USS Missouri looking just as she did in 1991. The USS Missouri was commissioned in 1944 and served in World War II, most notably hosting the Japanese surrender ceremony in Tokyo Bay. She was the first US battleship to arrive in Korean waters for that conflict, acting as a flagship. She was decommissioned in 1955, but recommissioned in 1986, serving in the Gulf War before being decommissioned again in 1992. Now she serves as a museum ship in Pearl Harbor near the USS Arizona memorial, together representing the start and end of WWII. I found a handful of listings for this set on eBay (mostly from Poland), but as a Top Rated Plus US Seller, I have this in stock and can reliably ship this to you very quickly. Here is some of the info I found from around the web about this stunning and rare set: The Pontos website (pontosmodel.com) does a great job of showing you everything you get in this massive set. After looking through the high-resolution photos of the set installed on an unpainted kit, all of the turned metal barrels and masts, each of the six huge frets and all the resin from Veteran Models, you will either be tremendously excited or absolutely terrified at the prospect of owning this Super Detail Set! They even give you the entire 4-page manual in full color, so you know what you are getting yourself into. Without coming close to doing the set justice, they simply list the contents as: 1. Stained Wooden Deck (Teak Tone)2. Scribed (Turned) Brass: 92 Pieces3. Photo Etching: 5 Sheets (they actually show 6 sheets)4. 3D Printed and Resin parts: 82 Pieces (from Veteran Models)5. Dry Transfer: 1 Sheet (Printed by Hobbydecal) Scalemates.com has a listing that doesn’t provide much information, other than confirming that this set was released in 2016 and is designed for three Tamiya USS Missouri BB-63 kits (#78029, #78018 and #7308). [Note: Only TAM #78029 shows the 1991 configuration, so if you have the 1945 version (TAM #78018 or #7308), the modern parts would not be used, and you would be missing many 5” gun barrels. I would recommend PON #35026FN or FB sets which are designed for those kits.] Scalemates provides many links to references for Iowa-class battleships that might be helpful. This set is in a long, thin box about 15.5” x 5.5” x 1.5”. As you can see from the pictures, the package is pristine and has never been opened, being taped shut, so I consider it factory sealed and absolutely gift-ready. This incredible set contains five or six huge frets of photo-etched parts, a large, remarkably thin and detailed wooden deck (stained Teak Tone), over 90 turned metal parts and over 80 resin parts along with photo-laden instructions that you would need to turn your own Tamiya USS Missouri 1991 (TAM #78029) kit into a masterpiece of miniature nautical perfection! I use eBay Managed payments, but I no longer ship internationally. Auction winner pays the winning bid and for a limited time, this dense (over a pound of metal) item is offered with $8 Flat Rate Shipping in the US! No reserve and a low starting bid. Check out my other great auctions for combined shipping. Good luck! Those familiar with my listings can tell that I really enjoy these products and the modeling hobby. I like to provide more than just the bare facts about the items, trying to lead you into discovering more about the subjects and optimizing your builds (if that is your goal). I started out picking up models that I was interested in, with the eye toward building them when I had time. Always a bargain-hunter, I accumulated many more than I can build, so I found myself in a Collector status (sounds nicer than a hoarder). As I am sure you have noticed, my items are almost always sealed and in mint condition (I call them Gift-Ready), since I only open them when I am ready to build them. Now I enjoy making these products available to my fellow modelers; both Builders and Collectors. For the Builders, there are probably better (at least cheaper) ways to add to your project lists than buying from me, but you know you are getting top quality. For Collectors, my goal is to save you a few bucks over the competition for the same item in factory sealed and collectible (or resellable) condition.
