12" J Rabone & Sons Birmingham England No 1905 try square w/ cast iron handle

Description: You are bidding on one 12" Rabone square as pictured.It is marked with "J RABONE & SONS BIRMINGHAM MADE IN ENGLAND" and No 1905" on the blade, and "RABONE" on both sides of the handle. Blade length is almost exactly 12", measured from the far end of the blade to the near side of the handle, not including the width of the handle. Blade height is about 2-5/16". The blade is graduated in 16ths on the upper edge of both sides. Condition is good to very good, with lots of a light patina (color) or staining on both sides of the blade, with only a few scattered and tiny spots of very light pitting. The black finish in the handle is nearly 100% intact but has dulled. The blade has an obvious bow if you sight down the upper edge, and would benefit from some careful straightening. SHIPPING: 3 pounds when boxed, a hair too large to fit into a medium Flat Rate box, insurance is included. No International shipping. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location. There is lots of information available from eBay that explains it in much more detail. The sales tax is completely out of my hands -- I don't have anything to do with deciding whether to charge tax, I don't have anything to do with deciding the tax rate, and I never see any of the funds that are collected, they go directly to eBay.SELLING OUTSIDE OF EBAY: Why would I risk my lengthy good standing with eBay to save you a couple of dollars? Especially when you ask on an email that is sent through the eBay email system? Please don't ask, the answer is no.INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING: I no longer ship Internationally other than Canada.
